Deadpool & Wolverine is, without a doubt, one of the most hyped films of the year. With its final release just around the corner, fans are eagerly awaiting all the details and teasers that will be released. In the latest trailer posted just a day ago, a fan spotted some interesting similarities between the upcoming film and another beloved Marvel classic.
It’s no secret that “Deadpool & Wolverine” is full of quotes. Following the release of the new trailer, Twitter user Multiverso Marvel (@multiversombr) discovered an interesting parallel in one of the two heroes’ fight scenes. There is a sense of deja vu in the scene where Wolverine attacks Deadpool and Deadpool dodges it all. As the user points out, this mirrors a scene in the 2002 film Spider-Man in which Peter Parker deftly dodges an attack by school bully Flash Thompson.

This is certainly a subtle detail that many viewers not paying close attention may not notice. It is worth noting that very few caught it. There is no established connection between this superhero duo and Spider-Man, or at least that is widely speculated, but it adds a layer of fun and intrigue to the scene. In addition, the trailer cleverly included references to the history of both superheroes, references to the broader Marvel franchise, references to other Marvel superheroes, and even nods to elements outside the franchise.
The film continues the timeline of the “Deadpool” franchise up until Ryan Reynolds’ arrival in the MCU as Wade Wilson; in this third film within the MCU, Deadpool teams up with Wolverine, with Hugh Jackman reprising his role. The film is set to be an important part of the MCU’s multiverse saga as Deadpool travels back and forth between universes, moving from the timeline of Fox’s X-Men franchise to various locations already depicted in previous MCU films and shows. As a result, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is one of the MCU’s most anticipated upcoming films. The film is expected to feature a number of cameos, although not all are confirmed. Confirmed appearances include Vanessa Carlisle, played by Morena Baccarin, Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Colossus (Stefan Kapicic), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Yukio (Shioli Kutsuna), and even Blind Al (Leslie Uggams) and Dopinder (Karan Soni), among others. In addition, two new characters will be introduced: Cassandra Nova (Emma Colin) and Paradox (Matthew McFaddin).
Deadpool & Wolverine is currently scheduled for theatrical release on July 26, 2024.
